나의 작품에 등장하는 뚱뚱하고 못생긴 인물들은 치열한 경쟁사회에서 고군분투하는 젊은 청춘들의 자화상이다. 깊고 슬픈 현실 속에서도 희망을 놓지 않고 오늘도
열심히 노력하는 우리들의 이야기를 담고 있다.
아이 같은 인류의 위대함
짧은 머리에 콧수염, 목이 안 보이는 땅땅한 체격이지만, 꽃무늬 남방에 금목걸이를 착용한 그는 나름 듬직하게 생겼다. 격렬한 운동과 는 무관한 몸매의 사나이는 복서로 변신하기도 한다. 그는 화려한 가운을 걸치고 경기를 앞두고 비장한 표정을 짓거나 상대에게 패해서 깊은 상처를 입은 채 여인의 무릎에 뻗어 있기도 하다. 복서는 대결해서 싸워 이겨야하는 피곤한 남성의 운명을 대표한다. 남자라면 힘 이 세야하며 상대를 때려눕힐 수 있어야 하는 것이다. 링은 경쟁자와의 승패가 분명히 결정되는 잔혹한 장이다. 문명은 갖가지 추상적 코드로 위장할 뿐, 힘의 역학관계라는 야만적 현실이 사라진 것 은 아니다. 여성이 ‘해방’되기 전 남성은 자신과 자신의 확장 이라할 수 있는 가족을 대변하는 고독한 전사였다. 그러나 나의 작품은 그러한 남성적 정체성에 희극적 거리감을 보여준다. 작품 속 남자는 고독한 전사라기보다는 동네에서 힘 좀 쓰는 ‘아 는 형님’같은 모습이다. ‘아는 형님’은 단순 무식해 보이지만 의 리 있는 캐릭터다.
그의 꼭 다문 입은 모든 상황에 대해 말이 필요 없이 행동으로 보여준다.

Greatness of Humanity Who Are Like a Child
Although he has short hair and mous\-tache and is thick-necked, he wears a gold necklace in shirts with flower patterns, which makes him look reliable. A man with a body shape unrelated to strenuous exercise sometimes changes himself to a boxer. He wears a brilliant gown, makes a resolutely determined face before game, and stretches himself out on the knee of a woman getting hurt from defeat by the opponent. Boxer represents the destiny of a man who is tired because he have to win in a fight. Man ought to be strong and knock the opponent down. Ring is a brutal field where victory or defeat is obviously determined. Civilization is just a disguise by using all sorts of abstract code. It does not mean that the brutal reality - power dynamics - disappears. Before woman is ‘liberated,’ man is a solitary warrior who represents family, which can be said as his own extension. But, my works show a comical sense of distance to a masculine identity. In his works, man is like 'big brother in the neighborhood' rather than solitary warrior. ‘Big brother in the neighborhood’ looks simple and ig\-norant, but faithful.
His firm-set lips don't need to say about all situations, but he just shows in his manner.
